I work in a consultancy firm. We deal mainly in a banking software as well as hardware (UPS). I am in the sofware department. I work as a consultant. I work with mainly the banks in my sub-region.

My question is:

1. Who are my internal Customers?

2. Who are my external Customers?

( i know the exernal customers are the banks i deal with as well as the clients we supply hardware to).

I'd like to know who my Internal customers are.

  1. External customer, as you mentioned, are the bank clients that generate income to the company you work for.

Internal customer are other employees, such as other support members of your company that provide you with information, clerical work, quality control, etc.

Many companies tent to ignore this internal customer and that can lead to failure.

For example, to the clerks in payroll, you are their client because they don't service external customer.  The employees you supply information, ie; your time sheet for accounts receivable, are your customers.  You better take care of these guys or they can s***w up the billing to YOUR clients.
