i recently purchased a 2002 saturn sc2 and am wanting to replace the current cd deck in there. i already have the headunit. it was previously installed in my old car. i am capable of doing it myself. i just need to know how to get the old unit out. the only way that i can think of would be taking the entire dash cover off. is this the correct way to do it.

  1. Yes,  The entire top of the dash has to come off to replace the factory radio.

    (what was GM thinkin????)

there is no easy way to do it, so go slow, take out all the screws on the drivers side and passenger side (by the glove box) and remove the dash top, its the only way.  A shop can get it done in about 1.5 hour (on/off/installed).  It should take you 2-2.5 hours.  (make sure you have a radio kit/wire harness/ and the antenna adapter (gm cars require an antenna adapter))  the parts should cost you 15-30 $$.

    good luck
