  1. You can't run an exe file in linux.

If you are running kubuntu, the easiest way to get a connection is with the knetwork manager, I can't tell you want the equivalent is under Gnome (the ubuntu desktop.

open a console window and type:

    ifconfig

see if wlan1, wlan0, ath0, ath1 or similar is listed.  If there is anything listed besides lo, and eth0 or eth1 it is probably your wireless card and the drivers are likely already loaded.  (lo is the loopback interface... don't worry about it...  eth0, eth1 etc, are wired internet cards.)

  2. you can't run .exe files in Linux.

It probably detected it automatically, and you may not have noticed.  If it didn't, you can still install the windows driver for it.

First, click on the double monitor icon at the top right, and if it detected the card, you should see a bunch of wireless networks that are available to connect to.  If you don't see that, continue with instructions below.

Go to your Application menu, and go to add and remove.

    In there, search for ndis.

You'll see the program "windows wireless drivers" in there.  Check to install it. and accept.  It will do it's thing.

Once that's installed, you'll find it in your menu in "system", "administration", and "windows wireless drivers"

Once that's opened, browse for the driver on cd.  Once you accept, it will find it, and take care of everything for you.  Of course you still have to put in your wireless security key, if you've enabled that feature.

When browsing, you're not looking for the .exe file.  You want to browse for the location that actually contains the .inf file, which is usually in a folder like /drivers/winxp/etc
