How do i install snowchains on a big rig, with a trailer?

I didnt think you would chain-up ALL the tires, just the drive-wheels. I would look up on the dept of transportation in your state or call department of vehicle licensing/driver licensing and ask around.

I do agree with the first answerer--some people wrap them around the tire then hook 'em together and some people lay them flat, drive on top of 'em them hook 'em up!

Its a pain in the ar$e...drive safely!

There are basically two ways, neither one is easy.

you can lay the chains out in front of the tires, drive over them and then bring the ends up and hook them on top of the tires.

I see a lot of people doing it but i prefer to lay the chain over the tire with the ends hanging down as evenly as you can.

then you have to lay down (wear a rain coat) and reach inside the tire and hook the inner chain.

Then you can hook the outer chain and put your tighteners on.

I have never chained duals but I imagine it is pretty much the same procedure.

Just heavier chains to deal with.

The hardest to chain are the drivers (duals) because the chains are HEAVY!! but I just lay them over the tires, throw an old plastic tarp down and lay on it to reach back and fasten the inside chain, then hook the outside, add the bungee's to the outside to hold em tight and your done. The drag chains ( rear wheel of the trailer are easier, going on just like car tire chains, just larger. I install them the same was as the drivers, lay them over the tire, use the tarp to lay on, hook the rear (inside) first, then do the outside and add the bungee's. drive a short way and get out and check, retighten the bungee's if needed and go.  Don't be in a hurry, it isn't a quick process.
