I'm nervous if the puppy will knock down her cage or something bad while I'm away? how can I prevent that. And my breeder's house already has two hamsters, a bird, fish and cats. But I'm still a little afraid. Help?

  1. put your hamsters where your puppy can not get to it, like on top of your dresser. don't introduce you hamster to you dog. it will scare your hamster to death.

  2. You don't have to introduce them. I have two gerbils and a cat, but I don't let them meet!

You can keep the hamster in its cage, in a room with the door shut- doesn't exactly harm the hamster as it is in a cage. Just make sure the puppy can't get in, and you won't have an issue.

I'm sure the breeder didn't have all the animals interacting, either.

  3. Skittles is right

  4. Well, I have had this problem before.  You should have someone sit down and hold your dog's back, and then you hold the hamster and let them sniff for a little while.  If either one acts up, put your hamster back in its cage.  If you dont want your dog to knock over the cage, then make sure it cant reach it, and dont put the cage on something that wobbles!

    Hope it Helps! :P

  5. There is really no need to introduce your puppy to your pet hamster. As long as you put the cage up and out the way then your hamster should be fine! Or you could just keep your hamster in a room and shut the door so your puppy doesn't knock the cage over. But in the long run, your dog will eventually get used to your hamster and the nosies it makes so i think your hamster will be fine!

    Hopes this helps :)
