How do i jump serve in volleyball(please please help!!)?!?!?

well ive got a pretty good over hand serve but i still cant get it over every time but i like all the girls on my middle school a team and on my club team and i really want 2 learn how 2 do it so please give me an answer on how 2 jump serve and regular over hand serve consistantly

  1. a jump serve is basically your spike approach from the back line.

    make sure you have a nice high toss and your approach timing down.

    and with practice, you'll be able to get it in almost every time

    Toss the ball up about 15ft over the end line with your left hand

    And approach as you would hitting

  3. It takes a lot of practice. If you can serve normal overhand consistantly, i would just stick with that, because jump serving gets you tired, and isn't very consistant unless you're very good.

    But to jump serve, i just toss it a little higher then how i would for a normal serve, then jump in a forward motion, and hit it. Its all about timing and practice.

  5. the way i got taught that always works for me and was really easy to learn, to me more easier than a regular serve.

    this is a jump floater so the ball will be more unexpected for the other team but you do approach and so its left TOSS right left but your toss cant be too high its pretty easy once you get your toss down!

  7. well, to get a jump serve over consistantly, you have to have your standing serve mastered. just keep practicing your standind serve until you can get it over consistantly. try getting 10 in a row, then 15, then 20, etc.

    to jump serve, there are 2 kinds of jump serves- the top spin and the floater. for a top spin, if you're right handed, you need to have the ball in your right hand and have your right foot forward. if youre a lefty, just do the opposite. you want to have your weight on your front foot. toss the ball pretty high, but in control. it should land about 10 ft in front of you. the toss is the most important. just get your toss down first. then you can add the steps, the jump, the hit. ok, so once you have ur toss down, keep your weight on your fromt foot, then do your approach- left, right left, jump hit. you toss the ball before you do your approach. make sure that when you jump, you're not square to the net. you want to open up because you can use your whole core instead of just your arm for power. so after your last step, load and explode! swing your arms back behind you and crunch down so that you can get more height in your jump. you have to contact the ball in front of your hitting shoulder. as high as you can reach of course, but in front of your hitting shoulder. to get the ball to have top spin, you need to snap your wrist. to get consistant, you just need lots and lots of practice. if you have a big backyard, practice there, go to the park, or see if there is an open gym that you can practice at.

    for a jump float, its a little different. you can either toss with one hand or two. i like to toss with two, but if you toss with one, make sure that your hitting arm is alread up like it would be on a regular standing serve. you do your approach just like you would on the top spin serve- left, right left, jump hit. but instead, you toss the ball after your first step. so it should be, left, toss, right left, jump hit. you dont want the toss to be too high or your timing wll be off. you dont want to load and explode on this either. for a float, you wanna hit the ball right in the middle of the ball, and dont snap your wrist so that it has no spin. this serve is really good, because it floats in the air. it can move to the right, left, up and dwon, which makes it harder for the other team to pass. just remember not to snap your wrists and not to load and exploed. and practice your tosses! contact the ball in front of you, not behind you. well, hope i helped!

  8. I think a lot of people tend to overthink doing a jump serve. Practice is the only thing that will make you better and more consistent at it. I've been scared to try it a lot at my team's practices but today I just kept doing it regardless if it got over even if the new coach was watching and she then had me do it in a scrimmage because I got better as the day went on. I've read websites on this and they all say jump serving is like a backrow attack. You can toss the ball with one hand, left or right, or with two hands like a granny toss but I can't explain how important that toss is, it's crucial for a good jump serve.

    I toss with two hands. I start about 3 or 4 steps back from the serving line. I toss the ball with both hands to where when it falls it would be RIGHT in front of that serving line. You should work on your toss for a while. Figure out what feels best as in one hand or two and make sure it lands where your approach will end.  It's mainly about timing after you get your toss. It doesn't even have to be that hard of a serve. Take a two or three step approach. If it's a good toss you can most likely get three steps in there but if you don't do it right you may have to adjust to your toss. Even the littlest hop can be beneficial. Once that ball is up in the air and past the line though you'll have to do a jumpserve. No changing your mind or you may step on the line and get a foot fault.

    Take your three step approach and as the ball hits it's peak contact it at the highest point possible from your jump. Make sure you get over the ball though so you can hit it with you hand and not finger tips. It's very hard to explain how to do this but it really is simple if you practice it. I know a lot of girls also use just one hand and they will run like an approach WITH the ball in hand and then do a really short toss and they'll do the slightest hop over that end line so it can't be called on violation but it's still a jump serve. Good luck, just practice it a lot, it gets better, really.

  9. ok well jump serveing is really fun...if u get ok at it.....but it is realy hard and really frustrating at first!

    Ok well first it is pretty much like a serve and a spike put together! well u really have to throw it high...but not to to high...and u have to take ur steps like how u would spike. umm idk how to really really explain it!

    If there is girls that are ur friends and they know how to do it...ask them to teach u how or even ask a coach!
