How do i keep computers from accessing internet?

ok so i have 2 younger children, and sometimes as a punishment i would like to be able to shut off internet access fomr their computer, but without shutting of the router, so i can stay online. is it possible? please help is greatyl appreciated. or tips. anything.

  1. You as the purchaser of their computer no doubt are the administrator.

    Just add a password  so when they start up, you will be aware they are using the computer and can check upon them.  You can also go into connections and delete internet access options from their computer entirely.


  2. You could use MAC Address Filtering. When you want "shut down" the childrens access, you would simply change their MAC address in the router so they would not be able to get the wireless connection, while you could still access your wireless.

  3. Look, I also have kids with computers at home and I block the access to the Internet right there in the router. Your router also must have an option to block some computers from accessing the net but keeping them in the local LAN.

  4. you could go behind the computer and unplug the cord. if there's no cord, you can open up the connections list and disconnect the network. if u have vista-

    start>connect to

    xp>in the bottom right corner of screen (its an icon thing)

  5. You can try a networking or windows password Also there may be a special parental control software you can install if your operating system doesn't already have one. Seems to me just changing you Windows logging on password is your best and easiest option. Good luck with the tykes...
