I play alot of golf and i always walk. My bag weighs about 40 lbs and i hit ALOT of balls on a daily basis. At the end of everyday i feel tired as h**l and my back and my legs are sore/tired. Does anyone have any tips that would help me get stronger.....and maybe gain some distance with all shots?

  1. I think there is a couple things to look at and possibly change given this info.

1 - Do you REALLY need everything in that bag?  40lbs is a lot of weight to carry 4+ miles a day.  Think hard and understand that every ounce makes a difference.  Do you lose more than 6 balls per 9 holes?  If no, then don't carry a dozen.  Do you still carry an umbrella on a clear day?  There is probably a few things to leave in the car.

2 - Great idea to get the bag on wheels.  MUCH better for your joints, and your feet, knees, ankles, hips and back will feel a lot better by this change alone.

3 - YES on getting in shape!  Golf should be the cake, exercise is the meal.  Get in the best shape your body can get into and the golf game will rise with the tide.   AND remember that for every all the lifting, do as much or more stretching work.

4 - Finally, are you over hitting?

  2. vitamin water

  3. lift weights

  4. I think it would be normal to feel tired after all that, especially if you're older.  I play four times a week, walk, and carry a bag that always seems to weigh more than every one else's.  I've lifted weights for years and work out in the gym 4-5 times a week and still get tired.  I'm 35 years old so maybe that has something to do with it.  I have a push cart but seem to get tired pushing that thing around too.  I'd suggest taking a week or so off and doing nothing and let your body recover.  Also make sure you have quality shoes since you walk.

  5. 1) Diet

    2) Exercise find a good full body workout that focuses on your core abs and back. This will increase your power and distance and lower your fatigue.

    3) Get a cart to carry your bag.
