It is round and comes about 10 inches off the ground. We don't have a place on cement to put it. The grass dies from the heat. We have tried putting bricks underneath to try and keep the grass cooler but no luck.

  1. You will not prevent the fire pit from killing the grass. The heat from the pit is too hot and grass will never grow. Your best bet it to go to your local home improvment store and buy a few patio blocks to put under the pit. It will look better than dead grass and provide a nice base.

  2. Possibly sheets of asbestos.

Or some of the material from the belly of the space shuttle.

Seriously - if you have a firepit, you generally have to accept that there isn't going to be grass growing underneath it.

  3. FORGET ABOUT ASBESTOS Unless you want to be exposed to Mesothelioma (quick form of lung cancer caused only by asbestos) .  I doubt if they sell it anymore since they are too busy trying to remove it from buildings..

It goes without saying any amount of heat will kill the grass. The bricks underneath are holding heat that doesn't work...It would have to be a high as a BBQ grill to keep the grass from being damaged.

  4. we have our pit on 4 12 by 12 bricks an it works.  the grass grows around the bricks with no problem...good luck to you
