Question:

How do i keep my hip from rotating in ballet class?

when you brush your leg in front of you then rotate it all the way behind you, how do you keep your hips parrellel? (i'm using the french terminoligy of these steps because i don't know the spelling.)

  1. um that is hard, practce not twising your hip before class. i do the samce thing but i think about not twisting it and my teacher says noting


  2. well when u One tendu back u want to stand perfectly still u dint want to move Ur hips at all !!! Don't worry it takes years to perfect ballet so don't get discouraged. My sister has taken it for a few years now and she is still  working on her form

  3. go to a mirro and do the step and fix yourself if you can not see both of your hips or go to a fellow dancer who knows what to do and ask them to help you out a little

  4. Try keeping uplifted on your standing side, and then just holding your leg and practicing the movement without your hips moving. Turnout is a good thing to keep in mind with your thighs down to your ankles etc. But I think the main thing that might help you is to keep uplifted on your standing side.
