How do i keep my parakeets from being so messy?

its in a carpetted room. they throw seeds everywhere. even though i have that little cover thing for the food container. it gets on the carpet and i have to vaccuum it. and whenever i vaccuum, they get scared and freak out.

I don't know how to top the parrot joke, but here goes....

They make a seed catcher that clips on the bottom of the cage and the little particles gather in the bottom.   I've seen them sewn out of cloth with a wire frame around them.   Also you may want to line the sides of the cage at the bottom with some cardboard or foil.
