How do i keep snakes out of my yard?

i have found several snakes in my yard and some are pretty big, they really didn't bother me until i found one in my house..the snake i found in my house is a texas rat snake and i have found a few different other kinds in my yard, some venomous and some not..I'm scared a venomous one will get into my home...i don't know how this got in...i need to know how to get them out of my yard..i have 4 dogs outside ..only one small enough to be eaten.

  1. Honestly, you live in an area that snakes are very common.  You are NOT going to deter them... sorry.  Just make sure you have all your vents sealed, watch when you leave the door open and block any holes in your foundation.  

    Just remember to look before you randomly stick your arm in a dark closet or corner.  If there were a way to repel snakes, someone would have patented it already.  I'd just run a perimeter around your yard before letting the dogs out and make sure you have emergency numbers handy.  And remember, the snakes are FAR more afraid of you and just want to get away... not attack you.

  3. around your yard pour a mixture of hot sauce and salt all around , making a circle around your yard. when the snakes cross it...they will "feel the burn" and will go away. to keep them away longer add hot peppers and lavender! the lavender will smell good and bring them in, and the hop peppers will KILL THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hope this helped...i have snakes and it works!
