i just bought two hermit crabs, and have been reading up on them to help me learn provide them with the care they need, and i keep reading that their habitat needs to read a humidity level of 70%. idk if this is a dumb question or \not, but how do i go about doing this? do i need to spray mist in the tank, or maybe put a warm wet towel over it to keep it humid? i keep reading that you need to have a humidity gauge, but havent read how to set the humidity, if that makes sense, haha.

any help or extra tips would be greatlyyyy appreciatedd!

  1. WELL WHAT I do top my hermit crabs is spary ware in the habitat and on the lid and it drips down

i have had them for 3 years and they're still alive.

  2. I have raised hermit crabs for years. The best habitat for them is for their to be sand or dirt on the bottom of the tank for them to dig in as they like to bury themselves. Dirt will hold more moisture. Also put sponges in their water dishes so that they can easily cool themselves off with a sip of water. Then spray a mist over the top of the tank 2-3 times a day to add more moisture. Always keep more empty shells in their cage than their are hermit crabs to prevent them from fighting over a shell. They also like to climb so keep a net cover over the top of the cage, so that they can not escape. If they escape they are dead within a few hours.

  3. What kind of habitat do you have set up? If you have a screen lid you can cover part of it with seran wrap to trap some humidity inside. You should have a small sponge that you can find in the hermit crab section at any pet store. Keeping that wet helps a bit. But the tank should be sprayed down daily.
