How do i keep the humidity in my red tail boas cage up?

ok i have a red tail boa and i want to keep the humidity up in the tank. i have forest moss and i want to know how to use it the right way to get the most of it. the local pet store told me to use a plastic container and cut a hole big enough for him to get in and out. where do i place the container im useing one of thoes heat lamps because hes in his shed state. please answer!

  1. The container with the hole is called humid hide. It works well enough, but it does nothing for the overall humidity of the tank. You need to do two things stop moisture from escaping the tank and cause more water to evaporate and be trapped in the tank.

  2. cover the top of the screen with a sheet of fabric or foil so that the humidity doesnt come out of the screen. Also put the water bowl on the hot side and one on the other side. I did this and my boa was shedding perfectly in no time

  3. you should put the container in the cooler side. you shoould also mist the box every day. i have a red tail boa and she sheds without any box or help so you snake might not even use it.
