How do i keep this..Check the box to hide my online status () from other users.unchecked.it wont stay uncheck?

In order for you to keep it  checked, make sure you have saved your preferences. And you should be all set

Go to your Settings page.Click on communication settings.

Set your settings on Yahoo messenger to friends, then check the box to hide your online status , save and continue.Then on the alert page unchecked the messenger box.

But you may have to do the alert fist then back to the communication.It's been so long since l used that settings.

But remember to save and continue on ant changes being made.
