  1. Call a local tree trimming service and ask them what they charge to remove it. It's alot less work then all that other stuff....We had one come to our house and remove a stump that was about 5 ft. around and it only cost us $40, it took them about 15 mins. to do the job and no more stump....By the way remember that however you get rid of it you'll need alot of dirt to fill the hole in.

  2. You have copper sulphate in the garage?  Didn't think so.  Round-up will do the trick.  Drill 4-6 holes (3"+) and pour some round-up (undiluted) until filled.  (COver with plastic wrap to avoid contact).  This will translocate into the root system and kill the tree.

  3. i cut a groove just next to the bark with a chainsaw or just drill lots of holes around the edge, then use a poison called deep root  you can buy it in most diy centres, it says child and pet friendly but i cover it up with either a plastic sheet or the last slice off the trunk about an inch or two thick, this also keeps the rain from washing the poison away hope this helps

(also copper nails will not do a thing to trees)

  4. The only way is to have it dug out. However remember that the stump has many many roots below and it just might be impossible!!

I would recommend you just keep killing the new growth and over time, especially over the winter, the stump growth will not reappear since in actuality the stump now is dead itself.

    Good luck!

  5. you need to get someone over and dig it out of the ground.

  6. 1. Pour Epson or rock salt over the stump and roots.  However, this will also kill plants around the stump as the salt seeps into the ground.

    2. You can drill holes into the stump and put high nitrogen fertilizer in to speed up the decomposition.

    3. Keep the stump covered with black garbage bag/tarp so no light gets in.  The sprouts and stump will eventually die.

    4. Add caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) over the stump - you can get this at your hardware/nursery store.  You'll need to apply 3-4 times.

    5.  Hire a professional to mulch the stump with a stump grinder.  This is the most expensive but quickest way to get rid of the stump.

  7. copper is poisonous so hammer some copper nails into it .. you could also use deep-root or similar chemical if you wish then block light to it (no sunlight = no growth) & leave it to rot away.

  8. Bore holes in the top and pour creosote or jeyes fluid in.

  9. I saw some proprietary Tree Stump Remover in the garden section at Morrison's Supermarket this morning.

If they have it there, they will have it at most hardware stores or garden centres, I would have thought.

  10. Drill a hole(s) in it and use 'Deep Root'. All DIY store gardening depts will have it. Don't use creosote, it's a carcinogen. Deep Root is safe and breaks down into a fertiliser on cotact with the soil.

  11. drill holes in it and pour in copper sulphate. end of stump

  12. Weed killer on an open wound or battery acid will kill a stump eventually, however its always best to get rid of the whole stump by a stump grinder. Its not expensive and your problem ends immediately.

  13. Depends how big the stump is.

The method that has worked for most people is to drill holes in the stump and then pour creosote in.

However I believe creosote is no longer sold, although you may know someone who still has a supply.

The other common method is to cut back the bark and tighten copper wires around the stump. Apparently there is a chemical reaction which kills it off.

You can also hire a stump grinder and grind it down.

I used the creosote method on a really big stump and it killed it off after three applications over a six month period.
