  1. If you are having so much pain that you can't hold your child, you should probably make an appointment to see the doctor.  I can't tell you what is wrong with your wrists and  hands, but if you don't find out and get the problem fixed, it may get worse and I'm sure you don't want that.

  2. You should go to a doctor and get it checked out. Usually the pain is accompanied by numbness and tingling in the hands. You would especially notice it when your wrists are fully extended or flexed. The pain is often worse when you're trying to sleep.

Since your a hairdresser it could be carpal tunnel. It's something that people in your profession commonly get. I'm sure you know that. Try massaging your hand and wrists or getting someone to do that for you. Here's an article about self-massage for carpal tunnel along with a video.

Do some stretching exercises on your hands and try to give them a break.

Definitely see a doctor and get checked out.

  3. If you have carpal tunnel, your index, middle finger, and thumb will get all tingly and numb, and sometimes the other fingers. If this hasn't happened, it's just stress on your joints or muscles.

A lot of moms get sore wrists from holding their kids, sometimes it's really bad and they can't hold 'em for awhile. It sounds like your joints or muscles are just really overworked.

On the other hand...you could have arthritis...but if you're young that's probably not the case.
