How do i know her accurate size?

I am starting my youngest in ballet, I am a bit confused on the sizing of ballet shoes how can i make sure the measure for her foot is accurate? Also for her tap shoes?

Ballet shoes will be snugger to prevent the foot splaying out and it's best to be fitted properly than purchase over the internet.

A ballet slipper should fit snug. It is leather and will form to the shape of her foot. A tap shoe should fit like a dress shoe. At the academy I worked at we had the very little kids try on there dance shoes with socks over their tights. This gave them a little room for growth.

If its her first time in ballet, I would suggest going to the nearest dance store in your area that carries ballet slippers and have her properly fitted. All dance shoes are made differently and so its hard to determine sizes.

For example, I have a size 7 street shoe but am size 6 in some dance shoes and size 8 or 9 in others. My pointe shoes are 9's. But it all depends on the make of shoe.

ballet shoes have to fit you just right just  ask what size are you in shoes and see if it fits.
