How do i know if he still likes me?

i went out with this guy for a little while last year and after we broke up he kept telling emhe still had feelings for me, and that he broke up with me because he didnt like my friends hating him and that breaking up was the easiest way, and all that for 2 months afterward. i saw him a week ago and he ran over and asked for a hug and said he misses me sooooo much. how do i know if he still likes me without asking?
