  1. Indian head pennies are very old and are made of copper.. They don't sell for much at all if you look on eBay.. I have one from 1893 and it's not worth more than a dollar.


  2. A red Indian head cent is one that is uncirculated and has been cared for over the years. As time goes by even mint state cents can turn brown from exposure to air and the contaminants in it. So a cent in say mint state RED is worth more than the one that is the same grade but brown, or some are what is called red/brown for some red shows. So your coin has to have no wear and be red. In non mint state grades the red is gone and there is no mint luster left. Hope this helps.
