My raquets like a year and a half old. And its getting harder to hit the ball quite right. It seems like its not hitting the strings rightor something like that. Someone told me i can get the strings restrung or i can get a new one. Which should i do.

  1. If you have some doubt in your racket change it immediately There is a risk of injuries or 'racket crash' :). Strings are for fine tuning. Every year companies throw on market new models. Some of them are good. May be you will find the right racket for you if you know what you want.

  2. Well you need to because soon your string is gonna break. plus who cares if its old you need to restring it everry three months! but if its all scratchy then get a new one!

  3. Ok, you most likely don't need a new racquet unless you have cracked it somewhere or you just don't like the racquet at all. You probably only need to have your racquet restrung as if you have had only one string job for a year and a half then you strings will be considerably looser in tension than when you got it. If you don't normally break your strings I would get them restrung about once a month to keep up your tension. Also, your strings may become worn but not break and feel more or less "dead" which I think is your problem in addition to having very loose strings. As a general rule when you string a racquet the more tension you have the more control you gain, but you will loose power. With less tension you will have less control, but more power so it is good to find your favorite tension. I'm 18 and have been playing for about 14 years or so and I have also been stringing racquets for about 5 years. I play with a Wilson nCode 6-1 tour 16x19 strung at 62 pounds of tension. I hope this will help you in your quest to find a better feel and shot. =)

  4. well if you decide to get the racquet restrung ask yourself, do you like the racquet? is it worth getting it restrung? If the racquet was prestrung or less than 50 dollars than it would be a better deal to buy a new one. For a racquet thats a year and a half, it's still considerly new.

  5. It really depends on how much you like your racket, how sturdy the frame is, if it has any dents, etc.

If you have a good expensive racket that is still in good shape, just the strings are deterioating and becoming really loose, then get it restrung (which is a really easy process - go down to your local sports warehouse and ask them to do it. or ask some of your tennis buddies if they have a stringer).

But if the racket is just falling apart, I'd recommend a new one. Something really reliable like a Babolat, or a nice Wilson.

Also, do you have a shock absorber on yours? That might help out a little bit if you don't have one.
