  1. The correct answer is:  You should have your racquet restrung per year as many timesyou play in 1 week.

Therefore you play 3 times per week = have racquet restrung every 4 months = 3 times per year.

Obviously if you are a frequent string breaker you would restring after the string breaks!

What most people don't understand is that the string loses it natural resiliency from the constant tension of being in the frame.  Over time or heat will cause the string to loose tension and could even distort or warp the frame of the racquet.

New strings also will aid in injury prevention to the wrist, forearm, elbow and shoulder  as more impact from collision of ball and racquet is absorbed.

Therefore, just because the strings are not broken or frayed DOES NOT MEAN you should not restring your racquet!

  2. If you try to move the stings around in the middle and they do move then its time to restring it.

  3. When ur string breaks or u want to more power and u think its loose.

  4. If you look at your strings and they are frayed, then they will probably break soon. Also, move one the mains (the strings running up from the handle) and look at the position where it was if there is a notch that has been formed in the cross string then you can assume that your strings will break soon as well.

  5. You get your racket re-strung if it is loose.  Also, if you hit the ball very hard and only a little amount of power comes out, then it's a good time to re-string your racket.  Some other people say that depending how many times you play a week you should re-string your racket that many times in one year.

Some pros on the other hand restring their rackets every day or every two days.  Pete Sampras re-strung his rackets like two times everyday.  He also re-strings his rackets with a tension around 70 pounds.  If you want to become a pro one day you might need to re-string your racket every week at least.

Depending on what level you play you should choose when to re-string your racket accordingly.  If you are just a recreational player you can re-string your racket every year if you don't play that much.  Or if you play in a school team, then my recommendation for you is to re-string your racket every two or three months to ensure the best performance of your racket during matches.  Hopes my tips help. Good luck!
