I am 9 months pregnant, and I don't qualify for paid leave at my job, because I haven't been there long enough. I need some kind of salary as I won't be working for 6 weeks, what are my options in Ohio, as far as short term disability, or anything else through the government?

  1. you dont qualify just from being pregnant thats a case every body will be getting it if your working get leave if not your short have your baby dad to halp

  2. Short term disability benefits are usually offered (and sometimes paid for) through your employer.  If you haven't been there long enough for paid leave, you likely haven't been there long enough for them to offer you short term disability insurance either.

The federal government offers no type of short term disability.  I would ask your husband or boyfriend to get a second job to cover your bills while you are not working. Some women do go back to work earlier than 6 weeks part time with a normal delivery if you have childcare arrangements.

Think of it as practice for when you do go back to work.  Your child care expenses will make it just like you aren't getting a paycheck!!
