How do i know if my cats are pregnant?

well about 2 to 3 weeks ago i was pretty sure that my 2 ragdolls were on heat because when i went to give them a scratch they would flick their tails to the side and get in to their position. and now when i do that the are not doing it. also what is it meant by reddening or pinkining as i look at my cat up at my mums and dad she as old girl and i looked at her nipples and they were white and when i look at the cats i have at home they are pink but only the usual size. also i do have an male purebred ragdoll. any help would be appreciated.
