  1. If he is a male he will have bright orange check patches if not then it is a female . This would be on a normal grey cockatiel.  Some of the varied colors don't have the check patches but most do.

  2. if its a lation you can tell by the wings and tail feather femals have faint stripes on their tails males dont and if its a grey males have bright yellow heads and females have grey heads..but you have to wait for your cockateil to go through its first molt before you can tell ( molting is a prosess in with a bird looses it feathers and grows new ones)

  3. The best thing to do is take her/him to a vet and they'll do a blood analysis, but that's expensive so look at the face. Boys have their feathers brighter from the face than girls, but you can ever be sure. This one is more accurate, but it's gross. You have to feel under their tail. If your cockateil has 2 things together that your bird is a boy, but if your bird has them apart them a girl cockateil.

  4. Females will only TWEET and males no matter what colour they are will all whistle tunes and sing or talk. Females will 99% of the time have gray on their faces but always have stripes on their tail feathers. Pied Males may appear to have gray on their faces and some stripes but their stripes are speckled. And a male will also 99% of the time have solid colour black and yellow tail feathers.
