  1. Regular PCI slots are usually white colored. PCIe slots range from black, blue green, yellow, ect. Also PCI slots are usually on the bottom of the motherboard

  2. Two options:

    1. Look up your specific motherboard online.

    2. Open up your case and look.

All computers have regular pci slots, and there are two types of PCI-Express slots. They are 1x and 16x. 16x is used for graphics cards and looks like the blue slots. 1x is used for various other hardware, and looks like the shortest white slots.

  3. PCI slots are generally white in color. PCI-Express slots vary in color, but I haven't seen any that are white.

These two links should help you identify PCI slots from PCI-Express slots. (The two PCI-Express slots used most are the PCI-Express x1, and the PCI-Express x16. There are 36 pin connections in the bottom of a PCI-Express x1 slot, and 164 pin connections,(Connector's), in the bottom of a PCI-Express x16 slot)

If this computer is operable, and connected to the internet, you can just go to CPUID.com, and download the tiny, little, free program, CPU-Z. This program will tell you a lot. (Just ignore the Microsoft warning. I assure you it's safe.)
