How do i know if my hamster is preg(best answer will be chosen)?

i have two teddy-bear hammys boy and girl and i think the girl is pregnant. first of all her bottom is a lil big and she sleeps allot and she ceps making these big nest but doesn't sleep in is and she Oslo acts hiper and runs around allot

Sounds as though she is. Do the hamsters live together? They really shouldn't be kept in pairs. If they are still together, remove the male and put him in another cage.

You need to let the female do her thing now and never try to disturb her. If she feels her babies are either stressed or under threat, she may well eat them. She may also eat them if they aren't well or if she herself is stressed. It's just a fact of nature, unfortunately and can happen with first time mothers a lot.

I suggest you do a lot of reading up on this and get someone to help you out. You're going to need to get more cages if you want to keep them after sexual maturity and remember with Syrians (teddy bear) hamsters the rule is one hamster per cage. They are territorial and can fight to the death for dominance.

As for your question - Males and females have nipples ("****").  Females' nipples are more noticeable.  To tell if your female hamster is pregnant, pay attention to her behaviour.  She will begin to make a large nest in a corner of her cage and put food in it.  She will also begin to get larger.  If she is pregnant, she will have babies after 16 days.  Here's a great website with everything else you need to know:

running around alot is natural they are more hype then boys but fat may just be fat or she could there gestaion period is about 16 days she will get fat and make a really big nest bigger then usual and eat and drink more anther way to tell is if the nipples start to show on hher have a look and c if u can c any niples hope it helps

This may sound a little gross but it is true if she is truly pregnant then she should have a white discharge coming from her vaginal area

take her out of her cage hold her up vertically under her front legs...is she plump around the tummy?...careful touch and lightly squeeze her tummy can you feel lumps and bumps?...those are babies.!!!
