Question:

How do i know if my horse is really putting his heart into his run?

My horse is really awesome he can run sooo fast but when he is running fast i think to my self is he running at his peak and does he want to run???

  1. Mark out a flat stretch some where 400 yards long, then have someone time you, if he can cover the 1/4 mile in under 20 seconds (from a standing start, he's plenty quick).  As far as telling if he giving it his all, after your quickest run, jump off and observe his breathing patterns, if he blowing like a freight train(nostrils flaring, and pink), he given you all hes got (quickly start you cool-down routine at this point).  If, as they say 'round the track, "wouldn't blow out a birthday candle" he's being lazy or cheating a bit, take your training from there.

  2. Well I doubt you can tell that. You can only hope he is. Im pretty sure you can tell if he enjoys it on how he acts after or before you run.

  3. You should be able to feel the difference AND if he's trying all he can when you ask him to go. If you're riding him yourself, you should :feel" him shift gears until there is no more gears.
