  1. Elements often have blow holes when they burn out. If you can't see any, then you will need a multimeter to measure the resistance of the element. If you don't get any reading, then it is burnt out. It may also be burnt out if the resistance is too high or too low. If you post the wattage of the element and the supply voltage your house runs on, I could give you the approximate resistance value you should be getting by using Ohms Law                               (P / V = I)  and (V / I = R)

  2. Kelly,,a good visual inspection will usually locate a defective element. Even though it may be only 2 years old, a hot spot caused by soils, ( splatters from pie-filling for example ) will shorten the life of the element. Good Luck.

  3. check the fuses in the stove they are usually located on the top of the stove or there is a front panel at the back near the controls or clock there will be small s***w in or resetable fuses there

  4. Shut off breaker to the stove and remove back panels and look for burnt wires, elements last longer than two years.

  5. I'll add to AC's reply. 1st make sure which element isn't heating; Broiler(top) bake (lower) Look at the element itself (the part that gets hot); check to see if there is any type of deformity like a hole in the metal.

The entire element should should be smooth. If you find a bad spot that usually indicates that the element is burnt out.

I agree though it should last more than 2 yrs but you never know; it's electric.

Pretty straight forward to replace if needed.

Turn the breaker off to the oven. You'll know it's off if the light is off. Remove 2 or 3 sheet metal screws holding the back of the element located inside the oven on the back wall.

Gently pull it away from the back to expose the wire connections then remove the 2 screws that connect the wires to the element.

Reverse the removal process to install the new element

  6. Shut off the breaker or unplug the stove and remove the element.  Most simply plug into the back of the oven.  Test the element with a continuity tester or an ohm meter.  If test is good carefully check the connections where it plugs into the back of the oven and clean if necessary.
