  1. the male will build a bubble nest. I have only had my male mate with female betas. I dont know whether they can mate with other fish.

  2. Betta fish don't get pregnant. Here is a site that should help explain the breeding process:

    http://www.flippersandfins.net/bettabree...

That is by far the best site I have found on betta breeding. If it doesn't quite do it for you, many more sites can be found through Google.

To all the people who say that bettas cannot be kept with any otehr fish, YOU are the ones who are wrong. There are many fish to choose from, all you have to do is follow a few guidelines.

    1) No long, flowing fins

    2) No bright colours

    3) No fin nippers

    4) No closely related fish, such as gourami, unless you have a descently large tank

    5) No males with males, no males with females, no females with females unless you keep at least 3-5+. The more the better, odd numbers only. The bigger the tank the better.

Juse off the top of my head, here are some that should be fine with them:

    Neon Tetras

    White Cloud Mountain Minnows

    Rummynose Tetras

    Lemon Tetras

    Silvertip Tetras

    Glolight Tetras

    Black Neon Tetras

    Xray Tetras

    Penguin Tetras

Head And Tail Light Tetras (aka Beacon Tetras)

    Blind Cave Fish

    Cherry Barbs

    Sparkling Gourami

    Corydoras Catfish

    Pleco/Bristlenose Pleco

    Glass Catfish (aka Ghost Catfish)

    Otocinlus

    Clown Loaches

    Khuli Loaches

    Harlequin Rasboras

    Bumble-Bee Gobies

    Hatchetfish

    Kribensis

And there are many more. Please note that some of the above fish require fairly large tanks. Also, each betta has it's own personality, and some may be too aggressive to keep with others, though this is not all that common. Basicly, your betta will only attack fish that look like another betta.

Some fish to avoid, for various reasons, include:

Most barbs, such as the Tiger Barb, with exception to Cherry Barbs

    Danios

    Gourami

    Generally, I would avoid Angelfish

    Discus Fish

    Many/most Cichlids

    Guppies

    Platies

    Swordtails

    Mollies

    Goldfish

    Obviously, Piranhas

    Paradise Fish

And many more. I would decide on a specific fish you would like, then come on here and ask if they are compatible. I do not suggest you turn to the petshop for advice, as many do not know what they are talking about.

    Good luck! :)

  3. mostly females can. not males much... yeah if the male makes a bubble nest you could put the female in.. but i wouldnt.. if you want like 100+ bettas..

  4. no, male bettas CANNOT be with other fish. you are wrong.

    females can

males will be very aggresive towards other fish. not to mention they should be in still standing water and other fish require filters.

if you MUST add something else with them, add a couple female bettas, maybe some snails, a pleco (depending on the size of your tank) ot a chinese algea eater

  5. Hold on everybody!!!!!!!!!! Male bettas can be kept with other fishes, it depends on the size of your tank. If you keep him in a small tank with other fishes, of course he's going to get a bit aggressive and territorial, however, if you have plenty of space and hiding places, you'll less likely have an aggressive male betta towards other fishes.

Same goes for all the other species. As for pregnant, fishes don't get pregnant, they don't usually breed live bearing, although there are species out there that does, but majority of fishes usually lays eggs. And usually, fishes prepares a nest before laying the eggs, so that is a way that you can tell if a fish is ready to have babies.

Anyways, I hope this helps.................. You can have any fish other than big predators in the tank with Bettas, like I said, you need a bigger tank for this to work, otherwise, your Male betta will attack other fishes, also, it depends on how stocked up your tank is, because that can also contribute to aggressiveness. Good luck..........
