How do i know it's safe to shop online?

i often look out for the yellow padlock sign at the bottom on the website. what else can i look for in a website?

  1. Shop at reliable online sites like www.craigslist.com, www.olx.com, www.st701.com, www.mocca.com, www.facebook.com, etc.


  2. The website should have a security pop-up that tells you your in a secured site, other than that, your browser should warn you about such things, ive found that mozilla firefox is the most customizable and secure browser up to date

  3. look out for the 'http' in the address bar changing to 'https', look out for the padlock image at the bottom of the screen that will appear and the security message that will appear in a secure website and also shop on reliable well known websites- that's key!

  4. You will be able to locate a padlock at either the top toolbar of your explorer screen or one at the bottom, if you cannot see one then i dont advice you to shop there.

  5. Yes, the padlock at the bottom of your screen and if you look at the top of your browser, when you enter the "shopping cart" part of the website - the http:// will turn into https://  (the "s" )  means secure.
