How do i know my starter is bad?

  1. You do not list any symptoms, so it is difficult to answer. You may have a weak battery that is just barely able to turn the starter. If you turn the key and nothing happens, then it could be a fuseable link that has gone bad. If you can take the starter off of the car, ake it to an auto parts store and they should be able to test it for you. Or take the entire car and have them test the charging system.


  2. first thing is to check and clean the battery cables then replace battery then do the starter.. but really if it will crank drive it to any shop and have it check... if it will not crank  can you jump it most likely a battery testing it at any parts store

  3. A lot of times if a starter is bad you will hear a clicking noise when starting your car.  Another symptom is slow turnover.
