How do i know that my hamster is happy and knows me and likes me?

Question

i just wanted to know if my hamster, Hammy is a happy hammie. :) and if he likes me. thanks.

I found with my years owning hamsters every hamster is different in showing their appreciation. We had a Syrian Hamster who loved being held and seemed to show his appreciation just by socializing.  Our Robo was a little more aloof, but he seemed to content and would still come to the side of the cage - he just didn't like individual "playtime" as much as other hamsters we've had. He was more of a loner, but I could tell he was happy by how he played in his cage and loved rolling in his hamster ball. Also, both hamsters lived long lives for hamsters, I think that also signifies being happy and healthy.

Our current hamster loves to play with us and being held and plays independently. Also, she will come to the side of her cage when my kids or I go to her. She seems to LOVE any attention. One thing she did recently that was so funny was I found her in her "bat cave" (as we call it) sleeping on her back! I was initially I alarmed so immediately researched it, even though I saw her her moving and breathing. I found on many sites that this means hamsters are content and secure. When my son and looked in on her again she was laying on her back eating a piece of corn! It was hilarious!  I think little things like that says you have a happy hamster.

Just keep spending time with your hamster, be aware of your hamster's unique personality and I'm sure your hamster will continue to be happy. I'm sure your hamster is already happy - because you sound like a GREAT person to be concerned with that! =)

Ask him. JK If you take great care of him then he will be happy

Oh how cool, I use to have a Hammie and I loved him very much. I guess you just give him fun things to do, good things to eat and snack on and hope for the best.
