How do i know what color to buy the living room curtains? I have sage green, taupe, light brown, and burgandy

the walls and tile floor are a creme color, the couch is a sage green and the rug is a floral print with all the colors mentioned. I was thinking about having the curtains match the accent color of burgandy, but i didn't know if this was too bold.

  1. Get something earthy and solid like forest green or brown or light like wheat or a pale gray. Those colors go with just about anything.

  2. Why not a stripe that incorporates all those colors?  Stripes when done well, add interest and length to the windows.  They can be elegant or casual.  You may have to do some searching, but  I think those colors would be relatively easy to find together.

  3. Are those the color curtains you have to choose from, or the colors the room is decorated in?  The color flooring and walls, as well as the furniture colors would be helpful.  I have a family room that has taupe walls, light cream carpet and our furniture is a tan.  I have sage & deep wine colored accent pieces.  I am probably going to go with a deep wine curtain for our 4 doorwalls in there - just because it looks monotonous with all the earthy tones already there and I'm looking for something dramatic to provide some visual interest - sort of make it 'pop'.

If you have a nice brightly colored sofa or are considering changing the decor of the room, going with a neutral curtain would be best - or a print that incorporates colors you know you'll be keeping in there.

If your curtains will be hanging in the view of the tv or a focal point, realize that they may distract from that if you go with a bold color.  If you keep it in tone with the walls/flooring, it will blend in better.

Hope this helps you out a little!  I'll check back to see if you add more info where I might need to edit/add to my response.

**I see you added more info - the room sounds nice!  Personally, I like the idea of using the burgandy curtains.  Especially if you have a bit of burgandy in the floral rug.  I love how that looks with the colors you are using.
