I want to know if someone is using my internet connection through my wireless network. Ain't there any ways of getting a sort of ''map'' of your own network ??

  1. Your Router should have come with a CD to use. It has a "map" that shows all of the current computers (or other devices) on the network. You could always secure your network just to make sure no one is getting in.

    hope I help.

    hoot ;)

  2. If you have windows Vista (tip: always tell us what O.S you're using), click the start button and then click network, you're supposed to have a list of all the computers that are there. (It must be the same in XP, except network is hidden a bit)

  3. I have an even better solution for you, instead of worrying about who might be able to steal your internet thru your wireless router, how about steps to lock anyone out but yourself?? I dont know what router your are using, but heres some basic steps to lock it down. Default IP's for wireless networks are 192.168.0.1, heres how you can configure your router to make it custom. First make sure you are connected to your specific router then, type \\192.168.0.1 into the address bar. This will allow access into your router, after a few seconds it should ask you for a username and password, and if my hunch is correct you either have the defaults on or no password at all. Depending on your router type (dlink, linksys) you can usually google the default username and password easily. Do that and you are now inside of your router, while in there just poke around a bit and look for anything says something about setting a wireless password. Most router supply brief descriptions of what the different settings inside the configuration do, so make sure you read it thoroughly to make sure it sets a password on your router. Once you do this DO NOT FORGET IT!! if you forget your password to connect to your own router, your screwed. Make a password up, conceal it somewhere, save the changes and close the browser. You may need to connect back to your router and insert the password. Now if you so this successfully whomever you suspect of stealing your internet will have to enter the password to use it and geuss what? they wont know it. This technique is called securing your network and it should be practiced by ANYONE who has a wireless network.
