  1. 1 month about

  2. i always put mine for 1 day

  3. I don't think you understand the meaning of cycling or you are just using it wrong. If you are talking about the nitrogen cycle then it will be about 1-2 months on average to cycle but you have to understand what cycling is. Here are some sites you can check out to find out what cycle I'm talking about.

If you are talking about cycling your tank like how long to let it run before adding fish I would say you can add fish immediately as long as it reaches the ideal perameters for that fish. But you should cycle your tank first.

  4. Now it is time to buy an aerator, and cycle it for 4 more days using the aerator. The next step is to check the pH of your water. It should be between 6.8 and 7.2 for most freshwater fish. If it isn't, buy a pH adjuster. Add one dose every 2 days until the desired pH is attained. Never add more than 3 doses. All the while, you should continue cycling your tank. The next step, after the pH is about 7, is to buy Aquarium salt. A little bit of aquarium salt is beneficial for all freshwater fish, especially livebearers (Moons, mollies, platies, guppies, swordtails, variatus, halfbeaks, etc.) and loaches and catfish. It won't turn your freshwater into "saltwater" it'll just add enough salt for a freshwater tank. (In the wild, freshwater is never completely "fresh," it always has a tiny bit of salt in it that helps fish not get stressed.) Use according to directions on packaging. I also strongly suggest using the product NovAqua too, a slime coat stress reducing tonic. Remember, in fish, stress leads to disease, which leads to death. Lastly, to start a new aquarium you must always use StressZyme, which contains beneficial bacteria. You can buy this product at any pet store. Beneficial bacteria is essential for your fish to live in a healthy environment. After your tank has cycled for 2 whole days after adding in the StressZyme, congratulations! Your cycle is complete. But be patient; although your tank is done cycling, don't buy any fish; instead, buy 2 "feeder" fish or guppies at a pet store. These only cost about 10 cents each. Put them in your tank for about 7 days, feeding them once a day with goldfish flake food. Finally, if the feeder fish survive, then you know now that your tank is fully ready to accept fish! (You can give the feeder fish back to the store.)

  5. Is it tropical or coldwater?

Depending on the size of the tank, a coldwater tank needs to cycle for 5-7 days and a tropical tank needs to cycle for about 2 weeks.

It will need to be longer if the tanks are very big.

You can buy certain treatments to speed up the process and to boost the good bacteria in the filter.

After your cycle time, it's a good idea to test the nitrites, nitrates, pH and Ammonia levels of the water to make sure they are all correct.

  6. Im not sure if you are aware but it won't even start cycleing untill you have fish in it. After that it takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month depending on tank size & amount of fish. There are certain additives you can get like cycle right & such. But the important thing is to get hardy cheap fish to start it. After that you can get a test kit & test for nitrates wich distinguish the biological filter. Or you can usually take a sample of your water to a pet store & have it tested for free.
