How do i know where the grren cord goes, there is...

Question

i tryed to hook up my speakers after i got my computer cleaned...and after that i am still having trouble trying to hook up the speakers..
there is this green cord that comes out of the speakers and i tryed to put it in the green slot but nothing is happening ..
do i have to install something so the speakers will work.?
