How do i know which 7 speed freewheel i should get for my mountain bike?

My gears keep slipping, and the guy at the bike shop said the the gear teeth are worn down. So i went online to order one, and i don't know what to order. The guy at the bike shop said to order the 7 speed freewheel, but there are all these differnt ones, how do i know waht to order?

    Not a 7 speed cassette.

  2. yes, FREEWHEEL is the key here, NOT a cassette. if you are happy with the gearing you have now, count the smallest cog on it, and the largest. that is how they are generally established. "12-30" or whatever. the small number is the little cog tooth count, the large number is the big cog tooth count" more specifically, the threshold between gears is up to you.
