Get into the habit of making daily visits to some websites like MSN Money and Yahoo Finance.  (http://moneycentral.msn.com/home.asp http://finance.yahoo.com/ )

While at MSN following the strategy lab analysts to get a feel for what the pros are doing and why.  This site has some basic information for beginners.

Other website that can provide instructions and help with procedures and terminology are

    Investopedia - http://www.investopedia.com/  Stock Charts - http://stockcharts.com/

Visit some of the more professional websites like Zacks - http://www.zacks.com/

Some of these web sites will have advertisers who are worth looking into also.  And remember, if they offer free information, get it.

  3. We all learn by doing. Read as much as you can about the subject and open a free virtual trading account with http://updown.com

You then buy and sell stocks with that virtual account and see if you can make money with what you have learned thus far.

    Good luck!

  4. Honestly...i read and read about trading and the stock market. I'd find answers here and there but never found a source that could answer everything without joining a forum or something. I signed up with Scottrade though and they have a local office. I found out sooooo much by going in there and talking to them one on one. At the very least just call one of their offices. You get to talk to the local guys, not some person in India, and they are extremely eager to help.

Also, if you do decide to go with Scottrade email me and i can get us both a few free trades (saves you and me both around $28)

  5. Read as much as you can. Take what you learn and sign up at sites that allow you to trade a fake portfolio. Use this to test your different scenarios and trades.
