  1. Phone them on 0800 800150 (or just 150 from the landline).

    If you are in a contract you will be held to term - ie you will have to pay the rental charges until the date your contract expires.  If you are not in a contract then they will cut off your line and send you a final bill within a few days.  As someone else mentioned, if you want to use broadband you will still need to pay the £11/month line rental to BT.

    EDIT - Cat... to clear up your confusion, what this means is that the company concerned rents the line from BT, so the price the company charges you includes the rental of the line which they in turn pay to BT.  Although there are other line providers, BT is the main one, and lots of other companies rent phone lines from BT and then act as 'middle man' between BT and the customer.  Hope this helps!

  2. how long is your contract, is this phone landline and broadband ?

    because if you just have phone you have to give 14 days notice, which i was told, and if broadband a month.

    Remember you need a landline to run your Internet connection, whether BT or not.

    I switched because of the following reasons,

    bad customer service,

    high bills,

    and the fact that they don;t answer questions when put to them,  i could go on and on......

  3. I'm with BT, I opted for the "best" service,. and think I'm stuck in a 1-year contract,. its not worth it.. (sure the simple package they offer is adequate for most people... foolish foolish me!) hence I get TWO bills (one for the phone and one for the broadband) and I cannot help but think that this is a bit cheeky, and simply a way for them to get extra revenue / VAT etc,. etc

    Re:Teddy's comments I'm a bit confused because I've seen a bunch of ads lately that say broadband without BT line...???

    Hmmmm,.

    =o()?

  4. well just tell them you are moving then say you wana take it out some one will come and take it out then you wont have 3 charge for leaving bt i guess

  5. As the other answers point out if you want to keep a broadband connection you will have to maintain a phone line, however the rental can be charged by another company.

    I switched 9 years ago to another supplier whose service is excellent, in fact when I reported a line fault my supplier's customer services kept in touch, just to let me know progress with the repair which was carried out the next day.

    My charges are certainly less and are about to go down again soon as the company is bringing out a world leading Voip service which will allow free calling, not only to internet only phones, but to normal phones as well.

    If you were me I would switch the service away from BT and then get the new voip service.

    If you would like any further info get back to me by email.
