How do i level a toilet on tile floor

  1. You'll need to use shims.  You can buy them sometimes, or you can make them yourself.  You split wide, thin slivers off a board or something.  You push them under parts of the toilet and level it.  Then caulk all around.  (Don't *grout* around it, like the guy who built our house did--I'll probably never be able to replace the toilets without leaving a footprint and/or chipping off some of the tile glaze.)


  2. Although you can level the toilet, you'd be better off leveling the floor. You r tiles will crack if the floor is uneven.

  3. Get to a hardware store and purchase toilet shims, then insert shims under the toilet in various places to bring toilet level use at least a 2 foot level placing it front to back and side to side on the seat, u may have to move shims around a little to achieve sitting perfection. Cut off excess shims with carpenters knife.

  4. I used shims once and tightened the nuts.It worked well.
