  1. You could drive over the border to America.

  2. they make radios that transmit around the world...I have one that pulls in stations from everywhere....good luck

  3. maybe a short wave radio? as you know radio signals only travel so far.

  4. buy an american radio and tune it in

  5. buy an american radio

  6. I live in Canada, too, and the Listen Live button worked for me.  It just took an awful long time to start playing.

  7. hey there, there is lots of sites but this 1 is good  www.1club.fmradioportal

  8. http://www.kfi640.com/main.html  has a listen live button. Use that.

  9. you would probably need to find really long ears for it.

My dad did that with his CB radio, we live in Florida but he can get people all the way in the mountains.

  10. i think what you will have to do since you cant listen live you should download podcasts of the shows from kfi that you want to hear. btw i listen to kfi :) its good stuff

  11. maybe try their station online?

  12. It's a clear channel company owned station and they have a policy of not allowing people to hear outside the US

You could try a US Proxy to listen to the service about it

  13. Check iTunes. There are alot of radio stations on there, and their free to listen too and iTunes is free to download. You do have to pay for music/movies/videos you download though. But podcasts & radio is generally free.

  14. Depends on where you are in Canada.  KFI 640 is one of the first U.S. "clear-channel" transmitters. (It's the only station allowed on that frequency). It is based in southern California.

Currently it is only operating at 25,000 watts on account of a stray airplane took it's main tower down in '04, so signal strength suffers nowadays as they are only using a 200 foot tower.

Nonetheless, you should be able to receive their signal quite well in Canada.

Couple things determine your ability to do so.

1.)The station's signal strength (already covered above).

2.) Your proximity to the transmitter.

3.) The primary direction that the station's antenna is aimed in (most are omni-directional, but have weak areas).

4.)The polarization of your receiver's antenna (Most broadcast transmitters have a vertically polarized antenna but sometimes you can catch the signal via "skip" off the upper atmosphere by orienting your antenna so it's horizontally polarized.

5.) Antenna height is probably the most important aspect here.  The higher your antenna is located-the more you will receive the groundwave from the transmitter-which is what you want.

5.) Which brings us to terrain. Mountains in the way will completely block some signals.

I don't know where you are located in Canada, but the station is in SoCal.....I seem to remember there being some pretty bodacious big mountain ranges in the way.  You may have to rely on "skip" to try to tune them in.

    Here are the station's specs:

    Broadcasting

Today, KFI broadcasts from its Burbank, California studios on 640 kHz on a 50,000-watt non-directional AM transmitter which is located in nearby La Mirada at 33° 52' 47" N, 118° 00' 47" W. As a class A signal, KFI can be heard throughout Southern California and some distance into Nevada, Arizona, northwestern Mexico, and, at night, in some parts of Hawaii and most of the western United States. According to a May 1, 2004 broadcast by Art Bell, this station can even be heard by sensitive receivers in parts of the Eastern United States. In Summer 2004, KFI became the most listened to talk radio station in the United States, beating New York City's WABC in cumulative audience during the rating period.

Try using a Grundig/Sangean/Sony or similar dedicated shortwave receiver (more sensitive than your average table AM receiver).  Listening in the car is more than likely not possible unless you're parked on top of a high mountain.

If you go the highwire route for your antenna-make goodly sure it's well grounded (lightning strikes truly suck.).
