How do i look after a cockateil?

Question

Today i found a cockateil in my back garden. have let all the relevent people know, in the meantime does anybody know how i could look after it ? It is not tagged and i am wondering if anybody will claim it.

You need to go to a pet store or Walmart and purchase the largest cage you can afford.

Buy Cockateil food, a calcium/mineral block.

Give the pet a safe location out of direct sunlight and away from drafts. Safe from wandering pets that can frighten the bird (dogs, cats, reptiles, etc.)

Cover up the top, back and two sides of the cage so the 'tiel will feel safe and secure.

Since this bird is not banded it may be a hatchling from a hobby breeder. Cockatiels are so light and stream lined that they can gain altitude rapidly and become disoriented.

Enjoy the bird and if someone does call; make sure they are the real owners as I once has 17 calls on one bird all claiming to be the owner. Don't reveal to them; ask them for specifics in the birds' coloring/pattern.
