  1. First how far away are they? And are there more cows still in the barn or pasture. If they aren't too far, just get a few friends to help herd them back. If they are farther away you may want to herd them into a trailer. We have almost 100 Holstein milking cows and for some reason they always find a way out. Although when our cows get out it is a big ordeal. I have had several phone calls in the middle of the night to come catch cows. We always put on person on either side of the cows to keep them going in a straight line to the barn and one of two people behind to chase them. They try to get away from people so they head for any place they can go. Usually cows will go to the barn because it is their safe place in their minds, but they must be able to see it. Open a door or gate for them to go in and they usually go to the opening to hide from you. Good luck catching them.

  2. the feed bucket trick sometimes works or you can do what I did a few times when feed didn't work shoot them and then eat them they don't get out again

  3. The easiest way is to get a bucket of grain and let them follow you. Cows are pretty dumb, I think they'd follow a grain bucket off a cliff!

  4. Im sorry but its quite funny you found the cows then went inside to post this question. Are they still on the large? You could try scare them back in, or use food to bait them or if you have an offroad car herd them in. I often see cows being herded with Quad bikes where i live thats of course the expensive option! But also the fun one.
