How do i maintain a good work ethic in high school?

I am a sophomore at a relatively difficult high school. Prior to high school, I have mantained a 4.0 easily. Duringmy freshman year, my focus faltered and I recieved four B s, and three As during the last semester, even with high school being slightly more demanding. This year will be harder than before and with college applications coming up, I need to a way to stay focused and work hard. Advice?

pay attention to class lectures

meet with friends after school and answer each other questions

Don't leave questions unanswered.  If you have a quick question, ask it in class or before you leave.  If you have a longer question, make an appointment with your teacher.

Another thing is to take classes that you're interested in or have fun with along with your core and required classes.
