Question:

How do i make 'light drawings?'?

I have a Nikon CoolPix S210 which has many modes.

For example, a couple would be: Night Portrait, Night Landscape and Fireworks.

I know that you need a 'long shutter' in order to make a light drawing.

And of course a light pen.

But do i have 'long shutter?' and would i be able to make light drawings with my camera? If so, how?

THANKS A LOT!

  1. You can probably use the fireworks option to make some "light drawings" or as I call it "Painting With Light".   There are several groups on Flickr dedicated to this technique and you can find out much more there.  Experiment with it!  A "long shutter" means a shutter speed that is several seconds long (at least) to give you time to wave your light around and make a drawing or whatever it is you want to do.

You can check out my "light paintings" at www.flickr.com/photos/jamieseed if you like, and feel free to ask for more clarification if need be.

I say just experiment with the CoolPix on a tripod with the fireworks setting until you find your own technique.  Good luck and have fun!
