How do i make a homemade mail box?

I want to make one for my dad, its his birthday soon and ours is a piece of c**p now lol. so a really good one.

Making a mailbox out of wood is a very easy project, but the problem is, mailboxes are part of the US mail system.  They can't just be any old box -- the rules for mailboxes are extremely fixed, and it will be very tough for you to follow these rules.  Note that many decorated mailboxes have, at their core, standard mailboxes.  You may want to go in that direction.  Add some wood legs, a tail, a head, and maybe you could make it look like the family pet.

if you look on the Internet, there are often blue prints for projects. they will tell you  how big for the wood and what goes where. depending on your skill would depend on how you would make this. i would look at a number of designs from the web, and chose one that you think you would be able to make
