How do i make a long distance call?

well ive been trying to call a friend that lives in pearland, texas and the operator keeps saying "dial 1, then the acces code then the number" but i do the the step right and it still wont let me. and the same thing goes for a friend that ive been trying to call that lives in oklhoma.

Where are you calling from?  Do you live outside the US?

Wow it's not that hard... dial the area code for wherever your friend lives, then dial your friends #.

Are you in the U.S.?

If you are then you dial 1 plus 3 digit Area Code plus 7 digit Phone number.

So its like 1 213 9876543
