  1. Do you mean from 34" to say40"? Enlarge the frame and walls.

  2. Well, the level of difficulty depends on what your walls are made out; cement, wood, white board, etc.

If it is made out of white board:

    FIRST:

BUY door the size you want, it should be a standard size, otherwise a custom sized door will be more expensive.

Some doors already come encased, so all you have to do is slide it into new door opening and attach to the walls' 2 sides and the top with screws.

Buy whatever you want to use to frame the inside and outside of door. Since the door opening will be larger, you'll need to frame the outside and inside of door, so you have to buy twice the amount of material for framing.

Buy serrated tool, I don't know what is called, but it looks like a hand saw, but made specially to serrate (cut) white board

remove old door by removing hinges

Remove old doors' frames (outside and inside) by prying with a s***w driver

Carefully measure encased door, width, and height

Mark the measurements on the wall with lines

1 inch smaller than the actual size of the door. That is to give you room for error, it is easier to keep enlargening, than to try and make the opening smaller.

Begin to enlarge the new door opening.

Keep measuring with tape measure making sure the opening is not too big.

Once you are real close to that 1 inch to 1/2 inch, slow down.

Try to slide the door in opening and tapping it with a rubber mallet. You want a tight fit.

Once door is in its position, make sure to use a level to make sure the door is leveled and not crooked.

Once you feel is perfect, s***w the encasing with 1 s***w to one side and then to the other, that is so the door will not move from the leveled position. Okay, now I would use 5 crews to the top, and 8 to 10 screws to each side, spacing them evenly.

Once that is done, caulk every little empty space, the caulking should be leveled with wall and door casing. Do that on both sides of the door, on top, and then go to the outside and do the same thing.

An now nail whatever you want to use to frame the door, remember you'll need to cut the corners at a 45 degree angle in order to meet and flush on the top corners.

I'm sorry I don't know the correct names for certain tools or materials, but once you start your project, clerks at Home Depot, etc. will help you out.

    Congratulations, job well done.
