  1. He should still be on baby food at 8mos. old.  You could try pureeing it all together after its well cooked, like in a blender or food processor.

  2. Sprinkle a little bit of sugar on top!

  3. Good for you! It's great seeing people that want to make proper food for their kids. Not that the jar stuff is evil or anything (I use it when on day trips) but it's great knowing what your child is eating. It's also been my experience that kids that eat homemade food are much less fussy eaters later. I think this is because the jar stuff is often very bland and it just does not taste like the real deal.

If you are using chicken breast, I'd put the the breast in whole into a small sauce pan and add the chopped carrots with it.

Add a little water (enough to just barely cove the chicken) and simmer on med-low heat until tender and cooked thoroughly. Don't add salt or anything but if your little guy is keen, add a sprinkle of oregano to shake it up a bit. The key is long slow cooking. (30 mins should be fine)

This will make the texture of the chicken very soft and easy to blend. If the chicken is cooked too fast or on a high heat, it makes it tough and when you puree it in your blender or food processor, it will become grainy. Little ones often don't care for it.

If you are using dark meat chicken (legs) the texture is much more tender. Not to mention better value.

  4. make sure you boil the chicken until tender, no salt.  Boil the carrots and  de-bone the chicken carefully.  Place in a blender or food processor until smooth consistency.
